California Prop 65 Short-Form Warnings Sunsetting January 2028

California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) finalized amendments to Proposition 65 short-form warning rules, with a hard compliance date in January 2028.

Brands selling into California will need to name at least one listed chemical on their labels rather than relying on generic short-form language. For supplement categories that use botanical extracts, the most common triggers are lead and, in some cases, cadmium.

We recommend brand partners begin the artwork update cycle now — coordinating chemistry testing and label revisions together is significantly cheaper than doing them separately.
